Hi All,
Over the last few weeks I have been trying(without success),to set up a 4602 IP Handset.
Today I have purchased a LInksys BEFSX41, Because it is a VPN endpoint Router.
Now am I correct in saying that my IP phone will not work if I don't have a vpn set up back to the office LAN.
So my plan is to take this router home, then from work establish a vpn connection to the router, then plug the IP Phone into the router, the phone will either see the VPN or through using the correct IP address I can use the VPN to connect to the work lan and then the PBX (IP403).
Will this work? Are there any do's and don't's relating to configuring the 403.
Any help will save my a lot of grief and keep my high standing intact.

i guess as long as your ip addy at home is static it should work. if you can VPN to work and the ipo is part of that LAN then i can't see why it wouldn't work.....

good luck

With respect to your question about configuration "do's and don't's" on the IP 403, Make sure you configure a default route under "IP Routes" which points to the inside interface of your VPN concentrator or applicable firewall on the work LAN. If your network is comprised of multiples routers and remote LANs, be sure to add a network route for that which you intend to setup at your home.

Probably best to delete the firewall from the IPO, ensure the correct ports are open for VOIP to occur (TCP ports 1719, 1720 and UDP Port range 49152 - 53247 inclusive) over the link. Ensure you can ping and zing to the IPO at Head Office from the remote end and that the TFTP server as set in the IPO has Manager open and waiting to serve the phone. You are probably best setting up the phone at Head Office first and with that done and tested take it to the remote location and plug in and see what happens. Beyond that it will be setting up your routes correctly, checking firewalling and then bandwidth

Good Luck
