Remote workers softphones via VPN

Hi all,

Just want to gather some feed back on this and establish what settings people feel they have acheived best results
with....

We have our senior management and sales now who all use softphones with seperate twinned extension numbers to their office phones when at home.

We have no standard ADSL supplier or hardware (routers) used by any of them so that is a big variable to start with....

Basically everyone of them work OKish some times perfect speech other times quite poor!

I have explained the nature of xDSL and QoS to them but they are still expecting more reliability.

What settings has anyone found work best?

We use:

G 711 ALAW
G 711 ULAW and enable fast start on both the extension tab and under phonemanager

Does anyone reccomend anything different or additional?

Any ideas for futher IPOffice, windows, soundcard, router settings that can possible just increase the reliability a little more?

If you use a PPTP connection you need to uninstall the QoS Scheduler in the Windows Network Settings.

Otherwise it's up to your network connection and you can't expect much without QoS. You can only hope, even though we are spoiled with good ADSL connections here.
