What is required to connect a remote user via internet on the shoretel? I do Avaya IPO, and we are just beginning to offer the shoretel soon. With IPO it requires a vpn, or similiar situation with QoS. I wonder how the Shoretel does this, and how well it works with Shoretel.

SIP?

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

I am an IPO tech that just starting learning Shoretel. I went through the implementation course last week. Shoretel uses SIP for their phones, and you still need a VPN to connect back to the main site just like with the IPO. They use the same default CODEC as the IPO, G.729(a), so the traffic streams are pretty much the same, and the same QoS requirements exist.

How was the training? Real live system lab? Knowledgable instructor? What do you think of the system?

I went to the implementation training recently. The training was excellent. I am used to Avaya Training Courses. ShoreTel blew them away. The instructor was very knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions. We practiced in a live system lab. I felt confident after leaving the training courses.
