I'm trying to figure out our options to move a phone or two to a remote (home network). We have an Avaya Ip Office 500 and our IP phones are 9608s. From what I have read there are two options available to us. One is to VPN the phone and the other is to set up the remote worker option.
We have a Meraki MX100 for a firewall and based on what I'm reading it is looking as though the 9608 phones are not able to make the VPN connection with the Meraki. I have tried with no luck. Has anyone had success with the 9608 phones and a Meraki?
I have tried following the remote worker directions to get us set up with this instead but I'm striking out here too. The phone boots up, looks to the call server, asks for the extension and pin but after I enter it it sticks on the discovering screen with the public IP address of the IP Office. After a while, it changes the discovering screen to show the local IP of our IP Office. Eventually, it reboots....what am I missing? I temporarily opened up the firewall to allow all traffic for that particular public IP so I don't think the firewall is the issue.
