Thanks to some great help from Curlycord
i managed to get 1140e working for a customer remotely
works great from my home office
configured 1 to send home for one of the employees
and then realized what i stepped into
he runs complete rogers ignite residential
he plugged the working and configured phone directly into the rogers router
phone said cant find dhcp server
i asked him to plug in a laptop with dhcp setup
worked fine
is there something funky isp's are doing
i figured maybe they had the port shut down, until he plugged his laptop in and poof, surfing
thoughts, idea's, guesses are appreciated
i think this could be a rats nest to step into
thank you

Verify what IP is running DHCP
cmd prompt - ipconfig /all and look for which IP states "DHCP Server" and verify its the router and only it.

Under Voice 802.1Q make sure Vlan is set to No Vlan

On the set try "Static" and enter an IP address , regardless to what the router is set too.

Get access to the router so you can poke around.

Kinda Outta Ammo!

i think you're right, i might have vlan set
if not, i'm going to have user put static in
i hate "residential lan's"
it gets to be a muddy grey zone
especially when its "all in one, home phone, home security, wifi with hotspots, etc.
i'll let you know how it turns out
thanks
rr

yup
it was the vlan
"user" said he un checked it
he didn't
i'm going to need users to start taking pics and sending them to me for "confirmation"
hehehe
thanks cc

I was doing some work on this BCM late last week, and this new "remote" worker, wanted redirect on his extension to call out to his cell
i have this working on 1/2 the phones for this customer pretty handily
and this "user" had it working on his head office deskset
so i am assuming its not user error (assuming)

all phones on this BCM are 1120/1140e with KEM's
Bell Canada Megalink PRI (keeping in mind it is working on all other sets that it was configured to allow redirect)
this one, i went in, checked the "radio button" to allow re-direct
and as soon as the user does the feature code and hits the first digit, he gets "invalid number"
yet he can hang up the phone and dial his cell no problem (and he enters it - or tries to - the way he did in head office and at his "home")
so, i decided after spending a day on and off, looking through every bit of his profile
to just do a set copy and paste from his head office phone to his home office phone
no change

other than deregistering or rebooting the bcm, i'm sort of at a loss
i took a spare 1140e here and set it up for allow redirect, it works just fine

any thoughts, pointers, sheer wild guesses are appreciated

thanks
rr

Can we assume the working sets are all onsite?

"soon as the user does the feature code and hits the first digit, he gets "invalid number""

You mean after doing F84 you dial the dest code and get that error?

all sets are on head office site
except
2 remote phones are, remote home offices
one is employee
one is here in my home office
mine works, his doesn't

I'll confirm again what he says he's dialing
(ie get it in an actual email rather than on a call)

I REALLY don't want to do a service call to his house

thanks
rr

Not just what he is dialing, what feature code he is using.

Line Redirect:
-Feature 84
-Press the DID button
-Press Intercom
-Dial Destcode
-Dial phone #

-You need to have the DID Appear at the set
-Double check Allow Redirect is checked
-2 Intercom Keys
-Access to BlocX

Other options
-Call Forward - to have any call to the set forwarded
-FindMe FollowMe - to ring both set & mobile

"wanted redirect on his extension to call out to his cell"
I think you meant to say External Call Forwarding?
Double check your "Allow Redirect" on that DN regardless as it is required for both Line Redirect and External Call Forwarding.

sorry, some early mornign MAC work got busy
yes
2 sets, one in say Barrie
one in guelph
tied into a bcm in toronto

1 has feature 4 - then 9+1519400xxxx
call into main company greeting, dial that extension out of the callpilot,
call transfers out to that cell

2nd phone same setup
(I've spent 2-3 hours on and off comparing the two in the bcm, but not saying i didn't miss something)

has feature 4 then hits 9 and gets "invalid number"

same sets, same KEM layout
even did a set copy and paste from one to the other
allow redirect is in fact on i even "toggled it on and off"

its just this one stupid set out of 10?

i think i must be hung over from the SuperBowl...

hahaha (whats a SuperBowl )

thanks
