Remote virtual hotplugging??

Does anyone know if there is any way to virtually remove or disable a hot-plug drive from a Compaq Drive Array without physically removing the drive, and then re-inserting the drive back into the array at a later date, sort of a virtual hotplug?

I need to do an upgrade on a remote Server with a mirrored System Drive, but no-one is available to physically unplug one of the mirrored drives before I start, can this be simulated with a utility or something?

The only way I can think of, is to remote in, break the mirror set, disable one of the drives, so that its not available and go from there.
