Remote Upgrade 2.1 to 3.0

Has anyone done a remote upgrade (over ISDN) yet going from 2.1 to 2.99(1000) to 3.0(44)?
I've done normal upgrades, for eg. 3.0(40) to 3.0(44), but upgrading to the interim release of 2.99(1000), as I understand it, will reboot the IPO and then not accept any incoming calls etc, which would mean I wouldn't gain access back to the switch to upgrade to 44!

Anyone ideas?

Trying to gain VPN access which will make things a lot quciker but need the info in case I can't!

It should be possible remotly upgrade to V2.99 & then V3.0 although I have never actualy done so
V2.99 gives verry basic telephonty operation (enough to answer the indbound connection at least)

I have done the 2.1(xx) to 2.99 to 3.0(xx) several times on 403's. It has never caused any problems.
