remote tool

have a server - brand new install (admittedly the installer was a muppet)

i've installed a secondary site onto this remotely using the smssender account

it sets up ok but the server never receives the remote tools
ie in services - it's missing

had a look at logs and nothing

i feel its a wbem prob but curious of thoughts

i have a colleague visiting soon so i can delete site and get it installed on site to see if it goes but nice to fix remotely

Not necessarily a WBEM problem, could just be the site getting stuck during installation. Your best bet for installing a secondary site server is to run the install from the server itself. Works much better that way, if you have luxury of doing it that way.

cheers - i will delete it and get collegue to reinstall onsite

i was just curious to see if i could do it remotely as server is miles away

all others have worked execpt one but it's on a strange server that someone has done something seriously strange on

has been reinstalled on site and still all ok except no remote tools

have instructed site to reboot at some point just to see if that will kick it into life
if that fails any thoughts

so next plan i thought was try sp5 on it - still no joy
how can i force the remote tools on it or what do i check for

Have you set site boundaries on the remote server?
Have you enabled remote client install on servers?

for some reason the sms&_server and smsclient_xxx
kept locking
once all pc's were off -unlock account and it installed on server

Hey There,

This may be obvious, but did you install the remote tools during the installation? Also, did you enable the remote tools client agent under clients agents on the site server?

this only happened on my 150th install
