Hi, hope I got the right forum here.
Here's my situation and setup.

Cable (WAN)
I
Router (using DHCP)
I
36 port Switch
I I I I I I I I I I I I I
Windows 2000 Server Winxp stations Quintum Gateways

Now because the router is using DHCP and is acting as a NAT how would someone log in to a node (Quintum Gateways) on our network via telnet.
The device we are trying to log in to is a Quintum gateway with a static IP.
What IP from the remote location will we have to connect to? The IP from our ISP? How does that work? There are 4 gateways we will have to do this to. All can be assighned a different static IP (192.168.1.XX) but isnt that locally? What is needed? If you have links to this please postem as well

Thanks your opinions are greatly appreciated!

You might be able to use both dhcp and static IP's. Try assigning the one device a static IP outside of the range of your DHCP server range. I do not really know if this will work or not. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

yes ok i see what u mean. My main question is what IP will telnet be able to login to remotly. The only IP that can be seen from the exterior is the one from my ISP. how would it see the internal IP from the router?
