Our shop has very recently began to deploy Windows 7 computers to our field staff and we are running into problems remotely supporting them properly. When using GoToAssist (GTA, or any other remote support application), Windows 7 security features get in the way.
Our policy is that users are NOT administrators of their own computers. When a remote user needs software installed or other administrator-level configuration changes, we have to remote into their system through Webex or GTA to affect the changes. With Win7, when the computer requires an administrator password, the GTA screen goes blank while the remote user (the user local to the machine) supplies the password. Consequently, we cannot supply the password and our remote users do not have access to an adminstrator password.
So, is there a way around the UAC settings that cause the screen on the remote access application to blank out. This was not a problem with XP, but it is with Win 7.
Win 7 Pro is installed.
