Hello, I am new to thi site. I am wondering if any of you have had problems dialing into Partner processors lately. I have found that when a VM card is installed I cannot dial in through the auto attendent any longer. This is only with very recent systems. I have talked with AVAYA and they claim they have not made any changes to anything. Just wanted to see if anyone else is having a similar issue. Thanks.

Welcome aboard! [wavey2]

A little bit of clarification might be good. Is the problem not being able to navigate around the auto attendant or is the problem not being able to establish a remote connection if you want to program the processor while offsite?

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

The problem is not being able to establish the connection. The modem sounds "sick" and the session fails. Removing the VM card does not help. It is like it gets corrupted just by being plugged in once. If I send the program in before ever plugging in the VM card it works, but as soon as the card gets plugged in that's it. Very strange!!

Are you trying to connect to the voicemail module or the ACS processor?

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

I am trying to connect to the processor to download programming. I do this every day but system's recently installed are the ones giving trouble. I think AVAYA has changed something with either the VM card or the processor port. I have opened a ticket with them.

One thing I forgot to ask is what revision is the ACS processor.

Remote connecting to the Partner ACS processor via the PCMCIA card has always been a crapshoot. Some brands of external modems seem to work better than others (Lucent branded modems along with the US Robotics Sportster).

Avaya added an Admin jack to the ACS R7 processor so a more reliable external modem can be used.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

hopefully you are not running Remote Admin 7.1.2 that has been pulled after a few days and they went back to 7.1.1
which is still working better.
Like Dexman said the modem type makes also a big difference and the one I have the least problems with is an old US Robotics Sportster 33.6 FAxmodem.
Line quality is also a factor even though the connection will not go past 14.4
