I have an Exchange Server 2003 SP1 that is too low on space to install the Windows Server 2003 SP1. I need about 500MD additional. I'm looking into using the Remote Storage Service to free up space. In a few months, we'll be doing a big move so I can take more permanent action then. For now I'd like to get things where they belong. (This is a new position for me and inherited a lot of nice equipment).
I don’t have the tape drive as an option and have found using USB external drives to be awkward. I might be missing something because I believe external USB drives should work. And then the Removable Storage from Computer Management is involved as well. I’ve searched many KBs but I’m still missing something. I’m testing this on a non production server first and it appears like I have to uninstall Remote Storage if I want to change the Remote Storage type so I’ve done that when I try a different drive. It doesn’t say that he Remote Storage drive needs to be NTFS or FAT32 but I’ve tried both.
Has anyone gone through this?
