Dear All

I have have a few questions on how to remote service for OCTEL 200/300 and VMX-100, when the built-in modem does not work/answer.

Install a PC with internet access and Team Viewer. Add an USB-to-serial adaptor if the PC do not have a build-in serial port.
Install a terminalprogram on the PC like HyperTerminal or Putty and set the interface to 7 bits/ even parity / 9600 bps.
Use the seial cable delivered with the system to connect the PC and the Octel /VMX.

Then you can access you Octel/VMX system o through the Internet.

If the build-in modem answers, but you cannot connect:

I have seen this with systems, where the hunt group that answers the lines - from the PBX to OCTEL/VMX- systems - if the hunt group has been set to fixed start (first port will answer first call, second port etc..)
The first port that has answered so many call os kind of tired, and cannot connect on the modem.

Solution:
Dial-in to the hunt group (on a time with no (low) traffic) and make the first port busy. Then dial-in from you modem and access the OCTEL / VMX system by entering ###5.
