remote read of Win32_Product wmi class 2

Hi everhone,
One of my chums is having problems reading WMI Win32_Product class remotely onto winXP sp2 machines,
Any ideas what the issues surrounding this are? running the code locally is fine, he is able to access other WMI Win32 classes remotely without issue....

If it is only on Windows XP SP2 systems that he is having trouble reading it, I would suspect that the Windows Firewall is causing problems. You might want to check out this link:

Make sure that they have permissions on the remote machine. Are they setting security to impersonate?

FYI, I know you have stated this is only a problem with XP, but want to make you aware that the Win32_Product class does not work on Vista. THe bug is slated to be fixed in SP2. When you query on Vista you just get 1 product returned.

Slated to be fixed in Vista SP2? When's SP1 coming out? And does it scare you that they already have a list of bugs to be fixed in the second SP before the first one has been released yet?

Sorry that is a typo on my part. It is slated for SP1 which I believe is due out around August.

sorry for not gettin back to your guys, seemed to be only a few machines which were having the issues and those looked like security issues? thanks for the input though
