I am moving from MS Analysis services to Cognos and trying to get a handle on how I can do some of the same things in cognos.

Currently I am working on proccessing of remote cubes. By this I mean I have a dedicated warehouse server that maintains a number of datamarts each mart does a nightly data load and then must rebuild the cognos cubes for that mart. The cubes however reside on a dedicated Cognos server. I am trying to find a reliable way of having the DTS package execute a step that rebuilds the cognos cube. I know it must be possible but I am not quite sure how.

Any assistance will be helpful

MDXer,
Does the warehouse server have both SQL server and cognos software installed? If so, could you not use the xp_cmdshell function in a DTS package to call transformer and build the cubes?
(remember to specify a UNC path to the model)
If the servers are distinct, then perhaps get the warehouse server just to write a trigger file to the cognos server, the presence of which causes the cube build(s) to begin.
