remote printing

I am running AIX 5.2.8, and using many of hpJetDirect (PCL and PostScript) and zebra label printers with dynamic DNS. There are some issues with the DNS server, and I am investigating alternatives. I like to know what are the difference between “remote printing” vs “hpJetDirect (PCL and PostScript) printing” and their pros and cons.

As far as I know, JetDirect is HP's implementation of "remote printing".

ok, the term is a little confusing here.
I mean
remote printing = lpd
hpJetDirect (PCL and PostScript) printing = streamline using DNS.

I hoope this clarifies a little.

I use lpd printing with my JetDirect cards. I don't use DNS on my printers.
