I have a client that needs to print to a printer located in a remote office. The remote office is connected to the main office via a VPN. Although the remote printer can be "pinged," printing isn't possible. The following is more detail on the configuration:
Main Office Server SBS2000 w/ two NICs
Internal (LAN) 192.168.1.x
External (Internet/VPN) 10.0.0.2
Linksys Main Office Router (BEFVP41)
LAN Port 10.0.0.1
VPN 10.0.0.x <> 10.0.1.x
Linksys Remote Office Router (BEFVP41
LAN Port 10.0.1.1
Remote Workstation LAN 10.0.1.3
Remote Print Server LAN 10.0.1.4
NOTE: The remote workstation can log onto the server at 10.0.0.2 and run terminal services session without a problem. As mentioned previously, a workstation/server at the main office can also ping 10.0.1.4 with good response times and no lost packets.
WE need to use an assigned/shared printer, managed by the server at the main office but located at the remote site, to support required applications.
