remote printer problems

sco openserver 505.
y2k patches (505a and the 600) installed, but not 471 and so on.

the problem, new client, existing server, cannot reinstall.
remote unix printers setup, but dont show up in scoadmin.
i am planning to put in the rest of the patches, but someone
went in and tried to remove remote printers manually, but they still show up in lpstat.
i want to clean up the printer situation before putting in the patches, but without the patch they dont show up in scoadmin, so i must finish the manual removal.
does anyone out there know the location of all the files with references to the remote printers?
im not even certain that i have all of the names of them since lpstat freaks out after a while.

Files involved =
/etc/printcap
/usr/spool/lpd/{printername}

It would be a good idea to kill the "lp" processes
lpsched and lpd, first, then to remove entries from printcap and then remove the spool directories.
You can then install the patches and then restart the lp processes from either scoadmin or command line.

are those all of the assoc. files with remote printing?
i have done that, but printers still try to show up in lpstat.

yep i pretty sure thats it.
the spool directories are really only used by lpd.
lpstat looks at /etc/printcap for remote printers.

Hola i know that problem with 5.0.5 and the answer is ,
Install the patches in the following order:

1. rs505a and do not reboot
2. oss497c reboot here
3 oss600a

This will help with the remote printers.

What a funny thing is that the remote printers works but you can not see them at the printer manager.

lpadmin -x {printername} will remove the remote printers completely
