I have a connection and under properties in the System Identification Tab...my remote node name (network name, control point name, remote node id) is not filled up. would this affect the performance of my connection?

If you look at the help screen for the connection properties page it will describe the definition of these fields.

Off the top of my head. You enter the connection name. The other fields I let default to the value displayed with the exception of the remote node id this must match the defintion of the PU in VTAM. For example if I have a PU defined on the host and the name of the PU is "PS2388C1" then the definition for SNA Server would be "102-38821"

The help message does a better job of defining this that me. If you call your mainframe guys they should be able to give you the required information from VTAM.
