Looking for a definitive answer regarding other peoples success with Remote mode on GroupWise 6.5.

I have a client with one user that uses it exclusively for travel (He won't use webaccess).. The mail never synchs, stuff gets messed up. Address book doesn't have addresses.

Today I duplicated it on my own system and get similar results.. Stuff that was deleted in my online box still sits in my remote box.. Etc. I can rebuild the remote database but it doesn't help. Force manual sync and no luck..

Does anybody else use it and actually have good luck with it? Is there a trick?

When we were on 5.5, I knew a user that used it successfully. I'll check with him to see how it works on 6.5.

you are meaning remote and not caching ?

i could never understand why they kept remote after the introduction of caching as to be they are the same thing - or well almost.

i've used caching and never noticed any probs but i will recheck

I also had a user on 5.5 that used it successfully, but since we set up webmail on 6.5 nobody here uses it anymore.

Well, I also prefer Webaccess... Much lighter and easier to get to when travelling. But this particular user won't do it because he wants to write emails while on the plane and other places where he isn't connected.

I originally thought that Cache mode required a persistent connection to the server, much like online mode. But I guess I was wrong (I could have sworn I've seen caching mode shut down due to no connection)..

Anyway, I will see what I can make happen with caching mode.

Caching mode is Remote mode with local control.
Remote has its issues.
Caching is a PO dump basically.
Works well here.
Caching doesnt care where you are, local, remote, airborne.
I also think Caching's sync is more robust.
