I have a ip office small office edition in wales and in london a ip403. There is a vpn through the internet, Adsl routers at both ends doing the routing and we can pass voice traffic between the sites. wales do have 1 incomming analogue line so for remote maintanance it becomes a problem. London they have isdn 30 which remote access is not a problem and I was wondering if we could dial in to the london and across the VPN. Do I have to enter a route in wales e.g or edit the RemoteManager route
ipaddress 192.168.99.0
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 10.1.1.50 (ip office in london or is it the gateway of the ADsl router in wales?)
destination LAN1

thanks in advance

you seem to have the idea correct
put the ip route in the system at wales
the gateway address need to be the adsl router in wales

I often use this on networked sites (with 2 diferent ip addresses for remote access) cross routed so that if the isdn fails at 1 I can still gain access via the other.

do i need to set any values in metric

May be you can help as i am finding it difficult.
details are:
London 192.168.0.47 (IP403)
Wales 192.168.1.105 (SOE)
Adsl router London 192.168.0.1
adsl router Wales 192.168.1.1

I can dial in to london using remote manager no problem
And I have edited the ip route in wales where orignally was
192.168.99.0 255.255.255.0 (Destination RemoteManager) TO
192.168.99.0 255.255.255.0 GW 192.168.1.1 (Destination LAN1)

I have set up a service on my office alchemy that dials london and in my ip route table (192.168.1.105 255.255.255.255 Destination London

ahh I see the problem.

Your ip route needs to be

IP 192.168.1.105
Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway 192.168.0.47
Dest London

Still don't work. Do you think I need to enter a routing info in the ADSL router?

I suspect yes the adsl router needs to know about your network otherwise it may miss route the replys

as an alternative you could make use of Proxy ARP

1 on your outbound service in the IP tab set an IP address that is in the london IP range with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.255 ( this will NAT your connection to the specified address

2 add a route at london as follows

IP addess - as set in step 1
mask 255.255.255.255

destination RemoteManager

enable Proxy Arp

Your connection will now look like a local PC at london

*as you are now using a customesr IP address you should get permission before using this technique.
