When a person wants to use remote mail on his mapi client. Before retrieving the headers in the inbox it starts to synchronize all folders (headers)
I think this is a exchange server setting. Why does it need to sync if you only want to see your headers in the inbox and to select which ones you want to retrieve.
This way you don't need a long modem connection but with the sync in front of it, it takes longer.
On my machine i cannot connect with remote mail because it wants to connect to a modem even when the modem is set to no dailup connection. (modem connection goes via a isp and then vpn
