Hi,

I'm having an issue with a Remote H323 Extension. I have all ports on the Sonicwall open according to the IP office manager. The phone boots up and I put the public IP address. The phone boots up and it ask for extension. After I enter extension the phone start saying Registering then it goes to discover. Then it repeats the process all over registering and discover. The phone is a 9620C and a 9608. They are both in a remote location.

What am I missing? I check the system had H323 gatekeeper and H323 Remote Extn Enable. Also under the extension number Allow Remote Extn is enable and under user Enable Remote Worker is on.

I have UDP 1719, TCP 1720, and RTP ports open.

I don't know were else to look at on the IPO or on the Sonic Wall.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First of all. Got to System - Lan # - VOIP and run STUN. For some stupid reason remote extensions start working only after that. Search google for public STUN servers and put "check STUN on startup"
Also "if STUN reports the Firewall/NAT Type as one of the following, the network must be reconfigured if possible as these types are not supported for remote H323 extensions: Static Port Block, Symmetric NAT or Open Internet."

Then if that won't help try to put remote phones on DMZ. It always was helping me in such cases.
Also try to Telnet to port 1720 from outside to check if NATing is working correctly on Sonicwall
