Has anyone got this to work? I have a test setup in my office and can not get it to work with the ipo behind the pfsense appliance. I have used some info from here and forwarded the proper ports but no joy the phone is just stuck at discover. Every once and while it looks like its about to come up then fails out. I have got the ipsec tunnel to work with two pfsense appliances, but I really want to get the remote extension to work. I have played with the port forwards, but I don't have a lot of experience with pfsense and suspect I may not be doing the forward correctly. I followed the ipo docs to start with, but I am still stuck.

Its a 9608 by the way. IPO is 8.0.46, which I will be upgrading to 8.1.65 today to test the new d100 cordless that came out in December.

For $150 I could put alix pfsense boxes on the remote sides, but remote extension would be much cleaner in my opinion.

Thanks

Which ports did you forward and did you forward UDP or TCP?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Take a look at the ZyXel line of firewalls. Great product that we use for remote phones is the ZyWall USG 20. Works like a charm everytime.

tlpeter,

I have

1719 udp
1720 tcp

49152-53247 upd

I cant seem to make the port forward work to the correct vlan, I have the phone seeing the system now but after I put in the extension it goes into a registration loop. As soon as I put in the extension it goes to discover sometimes. As I mess with the port forwards I can see the changes. The phone even picks up the local address and tries to connect to it sometimes. Im not sure where its getting it from though. I know it has to be a port forwarding issue, but I cant find the exact combo that works.

I am doing better then before as the phone at least connects to the system, it just wont complete registration.

The test setup is a old nortel poe switch with a trunk to pfsense for vlan 2 and 3. the system is on vlan 2 with switch port set to tagging. All optioning works via dhcp options 242 and 176 for local phones to get there info.

Sgrossman,

I will look into them, I am just using pfsense since it is what I have on hand. Its powerful but can be a pain. I would never use it at a customers, but I do at my own house.
