Hello:

Well, I am trying to update our backup system, which is n a Linux Redhat, with no DVD, just a cd.

So, I took the DVD, put it in an AIX system which has a DVD,
mounted it, exported it.

Then I simply mounted it in Linux by hostname:/cdrom /cdrom.

I see all the contents just fine,
however when i run the install, its failing,
if i run the install on the system where the cd is its fine,

does this indicate the applicaion cant be installed this way by a remoted DVD, I have never had problems doing things this way before, but you never know, or did I miss a setting?

any thoughts?

thank you.
Scott

It depends very much on the install scripts for the application and where they expect to find the installation files. What is the application exactly? What error message do you get when the installation fails?
