i heard that solaris can do remote dump or remote backup to another server, how about our AIX, any idea how to do this, i saw one thread that posted a script to do this, however, is there any simpler way to do this,or should i say AIX cant do such thing?
thanks!

Of course it can. It requires another host that is installed as a NIM server.

Hi Bonsky,
AIX has command rdump to do remote backup, it is used in case local host has no tape drive. Inverse command is rrestore.
