I am setting up a small branch office about 3 hours away.
This office will have a max 16 employees (DB developers)

They will have a T1 to the main office who in turn will have an undefined connection as of now, to an outsource
data center.

There will be only one server on site at the remote ofc. (with two NICs)and will only be used to connect them through a Cisco Pix 501 FW and as a print server. Anything else such as storage, file server etc... will run across the T1.

My question is simple I'm sure --

I do not have to make this server a DHCP server also correct? With our T1 and the server with the same domain name - shouldn't the laptops connect to the switch pick up the DHCP IPs?

DHCP is not a routable protocol without special helpers. I suggest that you have seperate DHCP scope for your branch office and have that office use it's own DHCP server, whether that's a Windows server or a router, etc.

Good luck,
