the second question on my last post is not exactly what i wanted to ask. my question should have been, how do i connect to a computer or computer on a lan connected by a router from the same(a computer on a lan connected by a router) the ip addresses that the router assigns to those computers does not exist outside the lan, so what would the ip address be if i want to connect from the outside?

Linus,
your wording is a little confusing. I think what you are saying is that you are trying to access a computer that is behind a router with firewall via dsl or cable modem? And the computer your dialing from is on a router also.
