I have two 2003 Windows servers. I can connect to one server using Remote Desktop from my office XP PC and from my home Vista PC using Cisco VPN with no problems.

I can connect to the other server from my home Vista PC using Cisco VPN, but I cannot connect from my office XP PC. I also could not connect to this server from home via Cisco VPN when I was using XP.

I have checked settings and I cannot find what is causing this. I could possibly understand if it did not work with both XP and Vista, but why does it work OK if I am using Vista but not XP?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Have you checked to see if you have any firewall settings that can be affecting you.

Well it took me awhile, but I finally got it fixed. When this server was first set up about 2+ years ago, we were more "open" than we are now and FIPS encryption was turned on. An XP client cannot connect to a Windows 2003 server if this has been done. I had to go into gpedit and turn it off. Now I can connect from an XP client. The other server did not have this turned on. The real key was when I updated to Vista at home and was able to connect. When we go Vista (if ever!!), then I can turn it back on.

Most will never turn this on.
