I ve got some users that operate in 1280x1024. When they log on to the terminal server, the Remote Desktop appears to use the same resolution as the local PC. Is there any way to change this behavior?

I've tried changing the display size on the client but all it does is give me a smaller session window. I want the remote session to be full screen but at a lower resolution.

In other words: I want to keep my local display settings (1280x1024) but have my Remote Desktop session display in full-screen at 800x600. So far, the only way I can find to make my remote session full-screen 800x600 is to set my local PC to 800x600 before logging in.

Alternately, are their any applications out there that will allow me to define an area of the screen and magnify it? I don't want a magnifier that follows the mouse. I want one that is stationary as well as allowing me to manipulate applications "underneath" it. I need to be able to zoom in on a row while scrolling up and down columns.

I'm envisioning something like this:
[small]blahblahblah
blahblahblah[/small]
blahblahblah
[small]blahblahblah
blahblahblah[/small]

The TS session responds to the local client resolution, so if you want the TS session to be full screen at 800x600 you need to change the local resolution to 800X600. No idea about the magnifier\zoomy thing you want, windows has one built in under accessablitly if you havent tried that one.

Right after I posted this I found a magnifier that might serve my purposes.

The one thing I don't like about it so far is that it doesn't work from within a TS session. You have to execute it from your local PC but it will still interact just fine with the Remote Desktop window. If you need to turn it off or change any settings, you have to switch focus from the session window back to your PC.

Pros: It doesn't interfere with regular mouse operation. Even the scroll wheel works like normal. You can customize the hotkeys, magnifier size/shape, zoom level, and more.
