Remote Desktop Lockup

I have a user who's temporarily manning a reception desk (MachineA) but also needs to access her normal PC (MachineB)while there. Both are XP-SP3 fully patched and she's logged in as herself on both PCs. In this set up RDP from MachineA to MachineB works perfectly.

We're building a newer replacement for MachineB (MachineC). The replacement is also XP-SP3 fully patched and Remote Desktop is enabled. When I try to remote from MachineA to MachineC, it gets far enough to ask for an ID/password then sits ad spins until it times out after a couple of minutes. Meanwhile, MachineC loses it's mouse pointer, but is still showing its desktop. At that point it's locked up so bad Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't even work and the only way to reboot is via the power switch.

Anyone ever seen this?

Are there any updated Video drivers for machine C? It wouldn't be the first time that video drivers caused problems in Remote Desktop.

Is the user a member of the Remote Desktop Users group? Members in this group are granted the right to logon remotely, Administrators have that right always.

The user has all the right permissions. Times when I've forgotten that I usually get a access denied error instead of a lockup.

Video drivers was my first thought too and I haven't had a chance to specifically look yet. A co-worker built the machine as a fresh install. Everything should be at the latest revision, but I will be checking to be thorough.

Have you tried login off of Machine C before remotely connecting to it?

If it works, there may just be an issue with the auto logoff sequence from the remote desktop?

Have you looked in the Event viewer of Machine C? Any relevant errors there?

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.
