We started to purchase the new Dell E6400 model laptops and when I try to log onto the laptop from a remote PC via Remote desktop, I get the Log on sreen of the laptop and I put in my domain credentials and then it simply disconnects me after I press enter. I have no problem loggin into other machines but this laptop. I am running windows XP PRO SP3 on all the machines.

Thanks,
-I

There is nothing in the Event Viewer that I can relate to the RDC connection problems. I found the problem and it is the NVIDIA graphic card drivers installed on the Laptop. I have uninstalled them and the RDC connection started to work again.

Thanks for you help.

Here is the solution for NVIDIA drivers to work on LATITUDE E6400 with remote desktop:

1. Start, Run, type regedit and press OK
2. Navigate to the Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
3. Right click in the Details pane and Select New –> DWORD Value
4. Name it: SessionImageSize
5. After it is created, double click on it and change its value to: 20
6. Exit the Registry Editor and Reboot.

Thanks for posting the Solution... I am sure that it will come in handy to someone in the future...

have a star...
