I have Terminal Services Remote Admin. Mode working on our Windows 2000 Server. We have a static IP Address and have configured our Nexland Router to point to our Server's IP Address. From my remote office I can connect to our Server using Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection.

How can I connect to the XP Workstations in the LAN?

Can I use Remote Desktop Connection for this as well, and how do I identify which XP WOrkstation I want to access? WOuld it be easier to use a product like GoMyPC?

Yes you can use the same Remote Desktop Connection client to connect to the XP machines. You will need to connect to the server first. Then from it run the Remote desktop Connection from the server and give either the name or IP of the XP machine.

In order for this to work, the XP machine needs to have Remote Desktop enabled. To turn that on, Right click My Computer. Choose Properties. Choose Remote. Check the box to allow remote connections. By default when enabled Administrator will have rights. if you need to, specify another ID.

If you are remoting in initially to a Win2K box I recommend that you upgrade to the RDP5 client. You can get it here:

I hope you find this post helpful.
