Please help...I have Westell VersaLink 327w for DLS router but could not figure out where in the configuration you can open port for remote desktop connection.
This controls traffic from outside coming into your system. Either configure the workstation as a 'Static NAT' or create a Custom Service entry. If you choose the custom method, the default ports used by Remote Desktop are 3389 both TCP and UDP so set up forwarding entries for these ports to the local IP of the workstation.
Configuration, Firewall
If not disabled, allow TCP and UDP traffic on 3389
Remember to open up 3389 on any software firewall you have running on the client.
It seems i'm not sure where in the router to set it up. Below is all I could find in the configuration. Please let know if I am looking in the right area. Thanks again in advance.
Configuration
Public LAN DHCP Server: Enable
Public LAN: Enable
Public LAN IP Address :192.168.*.*
Public LAN Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Phew! Thank you sooo much guys for helping me solved this problem. Now I understand where to set up a port forwarding in Westell 327w and everything worked terrifically fine after yesterday remote in from my workplace to my home pc. I cannot have done it without your helps. Thank again everyone.
