2 laptops both windows 7 pro connecting via remote desktop connection to our terminal server.

i have terminal server installed on the dell server and for the past few month one of the laptops drops the connection to our server Windows Server 2008 intermittently, for example my husband is dialed in via remote service and works on the server, then he minimize the screen to go to his email and a few minutes later when he goes back to the server he has a black screen and it takes about 30 sec to 1 min or longer before he is back in, usually he is right back where he was and does not have to sign in, very rarely he has to sign on again

it happens very rarely to me just once in a blue moon
any ideas? we changed the highest RDP Compression on the server to a lower RDP Compression setting

nothing was newly installed on any of the laptops or the server

thanks for any feedback

Just a shot in the dark but does the other PC have their NIC set up to save power? You need to go into Control Panel->Network and Internet->Network Connections then right click the NIC and select properties. At the top of the screen, you will need to click on the "Configure" button. Then click on the Power Management tab. If the computer is allowed to "turn off this device" then you may need to unselect that option.
