Is there a simple way to access a computer connected to a hub of a BEFSR41 router using remote desktop? The computer has been assigned a static IP address, and the host computer configured to enable remote desktop. I use port forwarding to listen to port 3389. but still can't connect from the client. I enter the static IP address of the remote computer eg. 192.168.1.2 in the Remote Desktop App window of the client but still can't connect.

Thanks for any help.

It might make things easier if you enable uPnP.

First, upgrade the firmware of the router. Version 1.45 is now official and works well for Version 2 routers. For Version 1 routers use 1.44.2. After the upgrade set uPnp to enabled on the Password screen.

Second, enable uPnP on both clients, if you do not see the Internet Gateway device appear on your Internet Connection properties page. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, Windows Components, Network Components and click the box for uPnP, apply then reboot.

You should download Directx version 9.0a as some NAT components may come into play.

Don't forget to turn off 'Block WAN Request'.
