Hi

I have a gateway notebook about a year old. I purchased it along with a Linksys wireless in order to share my cable Internet Connection

My problem now is, last week it start to work fine for 15, mins or so then drops connect then reconnect in about 30 seconds to a minute.

And it is doing this all day long.

I started having this problem after the Electricity reset in my house and I had to reboot the main computer turn on and reset the Cable modem and had to unplug and and again restore power to the Linksys.

Does anybody have anybody have a hint as to what may be happening.

Your help is appreciated

Thanks

Myrna

See if faq779-4625 helps.

This is a reasonable start for the issue.
If you continue to have issues, please advise again here.

Thanks Bill

I read about the "WinsockFix" and like the idea of a utility doing the fix rather than depending on the user with butterfingers to do it.

Can you advise if the XP "Restore System" will help if this utility kills my internet or linksys cconnection.

Just asking your opinion. I realize anything I do is MY CALL.

Thanks

Myrna

I just come back to say it started again and the whole day was disconnecting "Wireless Connection Unavailable" and reconnecting "Single Strength Excellent".

I searched the internet for a solution, then decided to reset that router.

I shutdown the remote computer (my notebook) then pulled the plug on the router, reboot my main computer and reset the Cable modem (pulled the plug (power)).

I was looking over the router and noticed on the bottom it had a lil hole labeled RESET in the bottom. but I didn't have to use that I think when I pulled the power it reset it.

Anyway after the boot I restarted my remote and it seems to be working fine. Hasn't dropped the connection past several hours. So thats a lead for you.

Thanks for the Help

later Myrna
