So I have been setting up a home server for while I'm away at school and have everything all set up except a couple big issues for me.

1.When remote connecting to the server through windows I use the administrator user name just like as if I'm using it here locally.

but a whole new windows session starts when I log in remotely. Is there anyway to just log into the already running session does me no good to log into a fresh session of windows. Need to get to the one I have all set up.

Also seems like IFS drives doesn't work when I connect Remotely so basically I'm in a big mess. I'd like to be able to quickly edit and delete stuff on the ext 3 hard drive while I'm away, and right now can't even see the drive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot

When you Remote Desktop into a server, if you just disconnect (without logging off), then the session will still be running and the next time you login (with the same username), it should connect you to the same session.

Are you trying to Remote Desktop into the local session (where you logged on while infront of the computer)? You need something like pcAnywhere or VNC for that.

If you run RD in console mode you will always get the same session as there is only 1 console session permitted

mstsc -console

When I was born I was so suprised I didn't talk for 18 months
