Remote close Outlook

I need to have outlook closed on all my users using Outlook because my backup scheme will not do .PST files. Most of my users PST files are on the network drive. I get an error when it hits a PST file. I am using Symantec BackupExec using deduplication.
I know I can force user logoff but I was hoping for another way. If anyone has any idea that would be appreciated.
