I was asked by a customer if there Merlin Legend R.7 V.9 can successfully ring there cell phones when there extension is ringing. (delayed or immediate) I have looked into it briefly, but I havn't tried it yet or given the customer an anwser. Can this be done? Thanks.

Well, they can forward THEIR extension to THEIR cell phone, but it takes a bit of programming.

The extension doing the forwarding must have the following things set up:

Call Forwarding Enabled & Trunk to Trunk Transfer enabled.

That's under extension programming.

ALSO, if your lines are loop start, they must have the LS RELIABLE DISCONNECT option set to YES.

It sure can be done. You need to authorize the extension for remote transfer in system programming and trunk to trunk transfer - just remember that remote transfer ties up an additional line. You can set up the remote transfer on their extension by programmming a button to accomplish the task (they still have to activate the button and enter the number the call is to be transfered to) or by using an adjunct extension and setting up an authorization code for them to transfer via the adjunct. If they want a delay before the transfer starts - then that is programmable as well - otherwise it happens immediately - whenever the transfer button is activated and forwarding number information entered on their phone.

Awesome! Am I right in thinking that there will be restraints due to the Trunks being used and how many users are using this feature. They have eight trunks in pool 70 and 25 extensions. Thanks for the advice!

Well, if you have a lot of people call forwarding at the same time - each person would be tying up 2 lines. Four people at once = no lines available to call in/out. So - you need to be very judicious (stingy) in who gets the feature. You can also consider using the outcalling feature in voicemail to accomplish some of the same. In a 2 or 4-port voice mail outcalling only ties up one extra line at a time.
