I'm trying to get this to work. I was able to get Remote Call Forwarding setup but I cannot get the Simultaneous Internal Alert to work as well. Is there a special trick to this. All I am trying to do is setup an extension to both ring internally and externally to a cell phone. Is this possible?

Thanks,

not the way you want .
but have your main station ,coverd delayed by an adjunct that will call foward to your cell

Make sure you do not use a "9" before the remote forwarded telephone number. RCF with simultaneous alert bypasses ARS - so the 9 is not necessary in the dial string. If you include it - the forwarding will not work. The call should simultaneously ring at the forwarding extention (simultaneous alert part). If the extention has coverage and/or voicemail - you may need to play with the settings - so that forwarded call has enough time to be answered.

Hi Tom,

Can you tell me what specific dial string to use in order to make the simultaneous alert work?

This is right out of the Feature Manual for Magix R3.0

For Release 2.2 and later systems, to forward calls to an outside telephone number and activate the simultaneous alert, either press a programmed Forward button, or press the Feature button and dial 33#. Then dial the destination telephone number followed by a pound sign (#) to signal
the end of the dialing sequence. The line chosen is the next idle line in the Remote Call Forwarding With Simultaneous Alert pool. It is not necessary to dial the ARS, pool dial-out code or the Idle Line Access code.

So the string as an example could be: 33# 1-847-251-xxxx #;
or 33# 847-251-xxxx # - if the area code is not required.

I did not see any limitation as to type of trunk (POTs, PRI, etc.) - however if any loop start trunks are in the pool - reliable disconnect has to be set to "Yes" - or no remote forwarding will work.

Ok, I tried that but when I press the forward button and try to dial the outside number it thinks I'm trying to do an internal extension and will only accept the first three numbers (we're on a 3 digit dial plan).

Any ideas?

BTW, We do have a PRI.

Have you authorized the extention (via system programming)for "remote forward" and "trunk to trunk" transfer?

Yes, I can get it to remote forward it just won't do the Simultaneous Inside alert at the extension.

Not sure why it is not working for you. Maybe it would help to print and post the extention report for the phone in question. Just for kicks - set the phone to all lines immediate ring - to see if it makes any difference.

At the top of page 378 of the feature reference manual. It states "1 pool per extension, the pool can only use PRI lines,T-1 lines emulating TIE,or analog TIE lines; the pool cannot contain lines used for private networking"

Me neither. Here is the extension print. I hope this helps you find something I've missed.

Is the 893 pool programmed as the simultaneous alert pool? Does that pool only have PRI lines (as noted by "1043")? Is autoselect set to choose that pool button first?

Yes, 893 is programmed as simultaneous alert pool. That pool only has PRI lines.

I'm not sure what you mean about autoselect set to choose that pool button first. Where would I go to check that. I do know that when I press 9 to get an outside line it does choose a line within pool 893 if that is what you are asking. Pool 893 is the only pool that we are currently using.

Autoselect can be programmed through centralized programming. Press menu, system prog, start, more, centr prog, extention, 130 enter, press any line button, list feature, choose autoline select, press the button for pool 893, press exit. See if that makes a difference. I am not sure if it will - if 893 is the only active pool in your system.

I changed the autoselect and that didn't work.

I thought of something else though. I went ahead and entered a delay forward of 3 rings. This rings to my office phone 3 times and then rolls over to my cell phone. I think this will work out. It's not as slick as the simultaneous alert but it will work ok.

Thanks for trying to help.

Here's something to check - your PRI lines MUST be set up routed by Line Appearance NOT by Dial Plan - everything else looks good

Do a printout of the PRI info on SPM. Here's a sample. Where it says Incoming Routing: You'll see either By DIal Plan or By Line Appearance. If by dial plan, I have a work around for this.
