Hi,
Yes you can back up the BCM 3.7 to a remote drive..... Here's how:
Create a folder on the remote PC's C drive, Share it ( make sure tou allow Everybodt rights for Read/wright).
If, like most pc user's, you have a login /password, change it or create a new user with a one name user ID and a simple password (BCM/1234).
Go into the BCM's BRU, and select the remote drive instead of the default (E).
Notes: you may need to change your workgroup to the BCM's workgroup name (Workgroup is the default one).
Occasionally, I have everything set up correctly and it will fail on the first try and then, with no changes, work the second time.
Also** there is a BRU patch from Nortel that corrects the Restore from remote drive feature. Install it !
Remember, the BCM needs to stop some process's when it creates a back up, be sure to launch or schedule it during off hours of activity.
When scheduling the backup for off hours , there are some warning messages that popup , alerting you that some services are shutdown during the backup procedure . These service interruptions don't take place during the setup procedure do they , only during the actual backup process ? Forgive the dumb question but I don't want to cause any service interruption during normal business hours . As always thanks for your time , this board has been a lifesaver on many occasions .
Can you tell what i have to put in for the location i created a user name BCM password 1234 folder JCP2878 but i having trouble with exact location thanks Donnie
