I'm using a Windows NT 4.x Server with ArcServe 6.6 installed, along with the backup agent.
I'm also using a Windows 2000 Server with ArcServe 2000 installed and my aim is to backup the contents of the NT Server across the network using the client agent option.

Does anybody know the best, reliable way to achieve this?

Thanks.

Uninstall AS6.6 from the NT server, upgrade the 6.6 client agent to 2000 and apply the latest service patch to both AS2000 and the client agent. If I remember correctly, the agents are not backward compatible, so AS2000 will not see the 6.6 client agent.

Hi,

Do you mean to uninstall the complete ArcServe 6.6 or just the NT Client Agent from the NT Server?

Thanks.

If you are going to backup the NT server from the 2000 server then there is no point in having Arcserve 6.6 installed, taking up resources. The Client Agent will need to be installed (updraded to Arcserve Client Agent for NT 2000) to enable the server to be backed up by Arcserve 2000.
