I have a client that would like to backup his Exchange files to our off site backup server. Our software will not do an online exchange backup. Would it be possible to use third party software to create a mirror copy of the Exchange data files then backup those files off site?

I also need to know which files I should be backing up.

Thanks

HI.

A good choice in your case is to use NTBACKUP.
This built in backup program can also backup Exchange server databases online (while the services are running).
So you can use it for such backup and restore.
However it does not support the important brick level feature.

You should also duplicate the OS itself, not only Exchange data files, or you'll have problems restoring and accessing the data.

Another options is to simply use GHOST or other similar duplication method.

You can also do an offline backup. Simply stop all Exchange services, and then copy all EXCHSRVR folders from all drives.
If you need to automate this proccess to run it every week/month, you can use my EXCHANCE.CMD batch file from here:
