Anyone have experience with remote office applications. Our company is based in NYC. CEO lives in Boston area. He wants to have a phone at his home that will emulate the phone in his office. Verizon has come back with 2 solutions, one being a softphone on his laptop and the other using 9110 remote office application.

Does anyone out there have any other suggestions regarding this application.

Thank you

It's going to depend on what hardware you've got at the local end.

Softphone is going to need some sort of broadband connection + all the shite at the meridian end (licenses, poxy's etc) 9110 is going to need hardware in the ceo's house + some sort of dial up etc.

Easier for the softphone...

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Hi,

I started using the softphone last week. AND IT'S GREAT!!!

We already had an ITG card in the switch connected to the intranet, and since last week I have a VPN connection over the internet to the company intranet.

After some configuration experiments I was able to get it to work (Our data guy's are not to helpful if it comes to things they do not understand, so I needed to open a magic box...). And the quality isn't to bad either... (Since there is no QOS)

So the easiest way to go is the softphone.

If Bill Gates had a nickel for every time Windows crashed... Oh wait, he does...

I have tryed a couple of solutions and some people choose softphone some other choose to use the MCK, it is like having a phone set inside the office but you don't need any lincese.

You just place one box in the CEO using an dialup or dedicated line, and the other one is in the office replacing the phone set he wants and connected to the dialup or dedicated line.

The quality?.. You'll never notice the diference, no matter if you are outside the country. You can also set the MCK to dial from any location you go, and every body will be able to contact you just dialing your ext number, the same one.
