i have a avaya system placing in this order. 308EC, messaging system, and 509 proccessor. What I am trying to do is to access to the avaya system remotely but it not connecting properly. I follow the manual book but it doesnt work. So is there some sort of setting that i must do that is not mention in the book for me to access the avaya system remotely from a different location.? for remote auto attendant and thru auto dialing.

Hello,

Issues with remote administration have been discussed in detail in older posts here on Tek-Tips. The remote access is very "hit or miss". It would also seem that some modems work better than others when trying to use this feature.

Now since you have an R7 processor, there is an Administration Port located on the front of the processor. You could connect an external modem to that port and see how that works out.

Also make sure you set a login password.

But i have a RAC card how come it woould not access the the avaya system

Kenny - it doesn't connect how?

Do you get to the modem, but don't handshake, or are you having trouble reaching Ext. 76 from the auto attendant?

we did get to the modem but we having trouble reach to extension 76. (We have a remote access card. we do hear handshake. but it not connecting.

So you're NOT having trouble reaching Ext. 76, because that IS the modem.

Since you are having trouble handshaking once the modem answers, do a search on this particular forum, and you will find a myriad of posts, problems, and possible solutions. Do an advanced search with a search string of:

Dexman probably has the best solution, use the PC card for Backup/Restore only, and an external modem connected to the Admin port for reliable connections.
