I am having trouble connecting remotely to a couple of newly installed v9 systems using Manager. I have forwarded the usual ports through the firewall but cannot connect. I can see the system when I open Manager but when I try to connect I get a network error. I can connect using system status which leads me to believe it might be a port that I am missing in the firewall. I currently have TCP 50802, 50804, 50808, 50794 and UDP 69 forwarded. I have looked for documentation without any luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Why put it on the internet?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks AM, I tried it but it didn't help. Could it have anything to do with the "secure communications" settings?

Please don't expose your IPO like this
There are already in excess of 500 IPO's that have been detected as open to the internet.

if you must access via the internet at least configure a secure VPN to limit the potential for hacking.

IPGuru, I appreciate what you are saying but configuring a secure VPN is not always possible. Sometimes accessing through the internet is our only option other than rolling a truck every time a customer calls. I'm just trying to figure out if something has changed in version 9 where I need to set up remote access differently.

I know its 2013 and close to 2014 but most of mine are remotely accessed by ISDN or logmein on a server on site. Seems to be a quick and easy way of doing remote access and never fails.

It's easy to buy a cheap-0 Win7 home dell/gateway/HP pc, put it on their network and run logmein on your account. Can get refurbs for less than $100. More secure and works for the cheap/very small IPO customer. We require it on all installs that aren't preferred edition. No messing with IT, firewalls, and most importantly exposing the IP500 to the general public. Just load up manager and the logmein service to your account on the refurb PC and install it on their LAN. It just needs internet access to run logmein.

If you do this, lock it down to only forwarding when coming from your own public IP. Opening these ports without securing it is asking for trouble.

There was I guy on here last weekend that had an IPO hacked into. It does happen.

I suggest you read line 2 on my signature, VPN routers are not expensive.
if you have absolutely no other way top access this system then follow Jamies advice & lock access down to your own IP address in the router.
