I would like to manage the IPO from home, I set up a VPN at the office, when I connect to the VPN server I get a different IP address but the VPN servers does all the routing and im able to connect to any server in the network. I created an IP route in the IPO to have a gateway. Now I can ping the IPO from my laptop at home connected through the VPN, but when I try to use phone manager it doesnt find it. Do I have to do any else in the IPO so it can connect to any network through its gateway.

I believe there's an option in Phone Manager where you can have it pop up and ask you (before it starts), which IP you wanna use, either the physical on the ethernet port, or your VPN IP. By default, its using your Physical IP, so it is confused and is reporting its IP back to the IPO as the physical address. Turn this option on, and for the life of me I can't remember where. Then, when you open Phone Manager, you'll be prompted and can pick your VPN IP. That should fix.

Hope this helps...

You say you can't use 'phone manager' - do you mean Phone Manager or do you mean Manager? If you mean Phone Manager then you're using the wrong thing, if you mean Manager what error do you get? Just 'failed to download config'?

Pinging is ok - sounds like IP routing is correct then. Try TFTP as this is what Manager needs to download the config - open a command prompt and type tftp 192.168.42.1 get nasystem\config (I think, from memory) and press Enter. See if it downloads the file. If not, there's probably a firewall blocking TFTP (port 69).

It's probably a firewall. Or try setting Manager Preferences to be the specific IP address rather than the broadcast.

I will have to try it tonight when I get home, I will post as soon as I can test it , thanks

Once you get VPN'd in hit
Start
programs
Accessories
communications
remote desktop connections

A window will pop up
enter the VMPRO IP address(or the IP address of the PC with manager installed locally on the network, usualy VMPRO server) You will need to have remote desktop enabled on the VMPRO server. Also will probably need user and PW for the VMPRO machine.

Then just take control of the VMPRO server, since it already has the manager software installed, configured, etc. If you want the config., EM it to yourself if VMPRO server has an EM client, or you have a web based EM account.

That is an easy way. I VPN in to the office all the time, and use remote desktop to takew control of the VMPRO server machine. It also makes it easier because all of the applications like call stsus, etc., are already configured for the local IPO. You can also start and stop services on the VMPRO server this way if needed.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

the application I need is phone manager, so the user can control his Phone forwarding, thats basicly what I need. they are remote users and have their phones forwarded to different numbers throughou the week

I still say it's a firewall. Once you've got a VPN there's no need for a firewall between you and your internal network. Check Windows firewall settings and disable it from the VPN connection but leave it on the Internet connection.

The problem with Phone Manager is it requires numerous ports to work. Check the Engineer's Toolkit for the exact ports (search for "Phone Manager ports").

You don't want speech do you? Just the ability to control the phone at the office and put forwards etc on? You'd require iPhone Manager Pro (or whatever they call it these days, Phone Manager Softphone I think) to get speech at home.

Yo can use Voice mail Pro and the play configuration menu to allow access to change the forwarding number for a user. I suggest using a pin code to access this feature.

rom help file

This action allows various user or hunt group settings to be altered. Because of the nature of this action it should always be protected by a PIN code in its General tab. See Using a Play Configuration Menu Action.

The options given when a caller accesses this action are:

For a user:

Edit forwarding number.

Edit follow me number.

Set call forwarding.

Set voicemail on/off.

Set do not disturb.

Edit voicemail code.

Edit voicemail reception.

Set voicemail email mode.

Edit voicemail callback number.
For a hunt group:

Set voicemail on/off.

Edit voicemail code.

Set voicemail email mode.

Set service mode.

For details of the default tabs see Standard Action Tabs, this section details only tabs and settings specific to this type of action.

Specific Tab:

Caller's mailbox: The mailbox matching the start point of the call.

Mailbox: Select or enter the name of the target mailbox.

Any changes made using this type of action are written to a file called "AuditTrail.txt" on the Voicemail Server PC. The file includes the time, date, details of the change and the CLI of the caller making the change.
