I program Panasonic TDE/TDA products with Windows 7 32 BIT system on a netbook without problems. I purchased a Zoom 56k external USB modem. I open the maintenance console, dial the number, and dial the internal modem. The modems communicate for about 20 secs then it disconnects. It gives me an error code of EA04402 and says can not connect to modem. Any ideas??

2 things come to mind
1)are you clicking on modem init box before trying to dial do you get a init successfully screen?
2) I had a similar problem and I was pulling my hair out of my head trying to figuring it out and you know what it was I went into my firewall settings and had to add the Unified maint. console as an allowed program the firewall was blocking
communication within the program

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately I tried both. I click initialize and it is successful and I also allowed the program in the firewall with still no luck.

Perhaps I am being stupid here & cwc3 will have no hesitation in correcting me if this is the case. The default fitted internal modem in the TDA/TDE is an ISDN2 modem on X699.A 56K modem card can be fitted & the address for it is X599. So the options are to dial from an ISDN line using an ISDN dongle on your laptop or fit the 56K modem card.If it is a TDE on a customers LAN see if the customer will set you up a dial in VPN & then you could access it that way. Save you the cost of a phone call.

J I think he is in the states and the isdn bri stuff does not
exist or apply over here thanks for input!

C I use a US Robotics 56k on my hp mini and use a prolific
usb to serial adapter and works just fine I will test a zoom modem and see if I can duplicate your problem

Hey if you are a dealer email them and see if that have a
init string for zoom modem !!

I have the problem with the modem, since I upgraded the PBX Unified program to V6.2.1.1, previous version did not give any problem

you need to check your program ii it is enable for the moden on the KXTDA
