is there a way to set up remote access to an ACS thru an auto attendant (Partner Messaging R1)?

Hi Phoneguy15,
What you need to do is assign ext 76 to hunt group 6. When answered by the auto attendant you dial "776". Don't forget to add enough pauses in the dial string (7 or 8 usually works). You can monitor the call progress to determine the pause length for each site if you turn the volume up on your modem.
Make sure auto extension privacy is assigned on ext 76 as well. I am assuming that you have programmed a password into the system already (#730).

Thanks, Chris

I set all of that up and tested. When I dial 776 in the auto attendant it tells me "invalid entry". Do I have to program something in the Auto Attendant? I tried selector code xfer & direct extension xfer. they didn't work.

Hi Todd,
Call into the system manually and enter "776" after the attendant greeting has started. You should be transfered to the modem. I am thinking that your dial string may not have enough pauses between the number dialed and "776". Let me know what happens. 776 is a valid hunt group and is recognised in the dial plan, so this should work. I do this often.
You are using the "auto attendant" option.

make sure selector code 7 in the automated attendant setup in the messaging is set up for direct extention transfer.

In Partner Messaging R1, there is a feature call transfer restrictions, which is enabled by default. This means that even if the selector code for 7 is set to direct extension dial, you can't dial 76 or 776 if you haven't created a transfer only mailbox for either 76 or 776.

So log into System Administration, select 2 for extensions, enter 76#, and then 2 to create a transfer only extension. In your dial string, use 76 to transfer to the modem.

Hi TouchToneTommy,
I didn't know that about the R1. It looks to be very close to the Magix now. Thanks & that explains the problem.
